Südpfalz

Posted by Thomas Striebig under: tours.

Hello!

Even the Palatinate Forest has its charms, and I think that he is behind the northern Vosges not need to hide. I was from the 18-21 Dahner October in the country rocks, have a three-lap course around Dahn (of course with the idea of a leader on multi-day tours in the Palatinate Forest, the largest contiguous forest in Germany, in mind). Why not?

In the Südpfalz as in the northern Vosges: many narrow paths, deep forests, little operation. Right: Operation is in the catchment of the huts, the other to a course are also welcome, especially if it is so cold as to the 20th Around October. After timely appointment can be seen in some huts of the Palatinate Forest Association also stay, but usually only on weekends.

I could a novel about the Palatinate write that I know from childhood - but best to explore it yourself!

Hiking in the Vosges - Accommodation

Posted by Thomas Striebig under: This and That.

In this book, I have information regarding the accommodation of an unconventional solution to be determined. Of course, the reader wishes to hike its overnight usually already organized and know where his main müdes to rest may be, which seems to me, especially for groups and for the season (long weekends, August) is necessary. But information in the guide itself obsolete over the years: this includes accommodation, there is a new, changed phone numbers, etc. What usually does not change, the addresses of the websites. Therefore I would like to specify the necessary links and even one or two additional tip type.

Obviously, the information on the latest levels. That is not without the help of walkers. Who in my data (or in my guide) any mistake or would like to add something, please let me to my e-mail address t.striebig @ gmx.de send a message. For your / your support I am grateful already very herzlic

Tour 16

Most accommodations can be found on http://www.ot-masevaux-doller.fr/
Who the Auberge de la Musardière contact, you can do this through http://www.interfrance.com/fr/fc/ba_accom.html.
A hiker has informed me that the situation at the district Ballon d'Alsace had deteriorated (unfavorable price / performance level). I have not reviewed. Who is not on the Ballon d'Alsace stay you can tour the whole bit differently: Starting in Upper Bruck, climb over the rocks to bird Ferme-Auberge gSang (see Tour 15). On the second day as described in Tour 15 for Sternsee and from there, as in Tour 16 in the opposite direction described Ferme-Auberge Gresson. On the third day directly to the Ballon d'Alsace and as described further. Alternative: start Masevaux, climb to the Col du Hundsruck and continue as described in the Tour 15 to Sternsee, descent from Fennematt with a blue rectangle on Lachtelweiher (shorter than with the red rectangle on Baerenkopf - Sudel, but not quite as promising) back to Masevaux . Either way, the time the final stage is expected to amount to at least 7 hours.

A few wonderful days in Alsace

Posted by Thomas Striebig under: tours.

In the second week of October, I was a few days in Thann and I felt very well there. Special Tip: In front of the cathedral (in French Collégiale, not cathédrale because Thann bishop never was) the Café "À la Collégiale" whose architectural design that since 1818 has not changed significantly. Very nice, sociable people who speak fluent German!

I wish anyone in Thann strong easterly wind, at least not on weekdays. Because the east of the Old Town, in the district of Vieux-Thann, puff some Fabrikschronsteine in such a horrific way, that one of the states prior to 50 or 100 years will be recalled.

The hymn of praise on the Ferme-Auberge gSang thick I can only emphasize that.

Updates to "On foot through the Vosges"

On foot through the Vosges Mountains - Cover

A guide is subject to an aging process, of course, some changes along the way. In general, the descriptions are still relevant, but for two details but I will mention.

The GR 53 starts since a few years ago no longer Weißenburg or Wissembourg, but already in Lauterbourg and runs through the French part of the very beautiful Bienwaldes after Weißenburg over. As a starting point would be the Palatinate Kandel in question, because it is easier with the train comes.

The leaders vowed to Hotel-Restaurant "À la Chasse" has been intervening in Urmatt again from another business operated and is now again closed. However, you can find in and around Urmatt several hotels.
